At Alpine Escapades, we combine the power, serenity and beauty of the mountains with UK-based, experienced practitioners to offer 5-night retreats. Based in the quiet and beautiful village of Vaujany, we help you to:

  • Understand the links between nutrition, mindfulness and movement and how they affect both the mind and body 
  • Learn new relaxation, mind and mood management techniques and how to put them into practice to feel more confident and in control of various aspects of your life
  • Make a plan which is relevant and suitable for your life and how you want to live it. We teach you how to take control of your own health so you can decide which foods and lifestyle habits are best for you
  • Feel recharged, nourished and rejuvenated

Workshops and optional one-to-one consultations with our experts mean you not only learn the science and techniques behind what you eat, and how you de-stress, but leave with a plan which is right for you and doable too.

We aren’t about the latest superfood or detox diet, our focus is on helping you reach the levels of wellbeing, energy and health you are looking for.

Nicola Preston Bell

Nicola's passion is helping you to find solutions and embrace strategies to cope with everyday life with confidence. She’s an experienced hypnotherapist, mindfulness and meditation practitioner and has been working with clients in Sussex for over 10 years.

Sally Rawlings

Sally is a registered Nutritional Therapist, trained in the latest evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle practices. She takes a collaborative approach, using nutrition as a foundation to support a healthy lifestyle and tackle any underlying complaints.

Henrietta Bennett

Hen has been running Vaujany Ski Chalets and Alpine Escapades for the last 2 years, knows the area inside-out and will make sure your trip to the Alps is one to remember. She will lead your daily walk and help you discover everything this area has to offer.

A typical day

The retreat can be taken at your own pace and your downtime is tailored to you, whether that means curling up with a book in the sunshine or paddle-boarding on the lake.

Our morning programme includes:

  • Nutritious breakfast to start the day and give you maximum energy 
  • Morning walk in the mountains – we encourage you to make the most of our location and join our daily guided walk, taking in the forests, rivers and waterfalls of the Alps, so you can connect with nature and feel invigorated, while getting to know others on the retreat. We also encourage you to explore on your own, to enjoy the mountains, scenery and fresh air and can give you details of routes if you wish to explore further
  • Nutrition or mindfulness workshop with Sally and Nicola, who will guide you through the foundations of healthy eating and techniques to allow you to feel more confident and in control of various aspects of your life. They will help you work out what this means for you and lasting changes you can make to your lifestyle. All participants are asked to fill in a questionnaire before joining the retreat in order that we can understand a bit more about you and tailor the workshops accordingly
  • Lunch is laid out for you to help yourself to

Our afternoon programme includes:

  • Optional one-to-one nutrition, mindfulness or hypnotherapy sessions with our experts (subject to availability and additional charge). Make the most of the expertise on hand to discuss your own plan in more detail and any personal underlying issues 
  • Space and time to do your own thing. Everyone has different ways of switching off and this setting provides an ideal back-drop to do so, whether you want to sit on the sun-drenched balcony looking out at the mountains, go for a swim or kayak on the lake, it is all on your doorstep and we will help organise any activities you wish to do 
  • Balanced and healthy evening meal, based on a traditional alpine diet with locally sourced food, and a chance to discuss nutrition in more detail
  • Evening mindfulness session to unwind, let go and facilitate a good night’s sleep

Various airlines fly into Lyon from across the UK and we offer 2 transfer times on your arrival and departure day to coincide with the majority of routes. We would be happy to talk to you about the best options for flights.
