An idyllic spot with 300 days of sunshine
Vaujany is a rather secret and unique alpine village with state-of-the-art facilities and within easy reach of Lyon airport. Located at the centre of the Oisans at 1250 metres, facing the Massif des Grandes Rousses, Vaujany is predominantly a ski resort with its own beautifully-maintained pistes and is linked to the huge ski area of Alpe d’Huez.
In summer this hidden gem is the ideal place to switch off, unwind and reconnect with what’s important.
Originally a village centred around agriculture and the breeding of cows and goats, Vaujany has retained its charming authentic roots whilst adapting to a modern resort. Supported by the government “mountain law”, the resort was created within the old village in 1989, avoiding the need for any compromise between tourism and respect for its identity. With a wealth of history and old buildings, new developments have been carefully considered and built in a traditional alpine style. In summer the locals grow vegetables and you will often find chickens roaming safely in quiet corners.
Vaujany is a compact resort easily accessible by foot and car with lots of free parking. For pedestrians the resort is brilliantly linked by a series of escalators and lifts taking you from top to bottom of the village in minutes.
